Dear parents and carers

I must once again share my concern regarding the traffic situation. Some parents/carers continue to park in an unsafe manner in front of our school whilst waiting to pick up their children at the start and end of the day during drop off and pick up times. This is placing our pupils and local residents at risk.

There is a zebra crossing and pedestrian crossing in place to allow safe crossing of the roads. This is not a parking zone and for good reason. Nonetheless, some parents/carers persist in parking in front of the school and blocking these systems that allow safe crossing of the main roads. Others have been simply stopping mid traffic and allowing their child/children to get in and out of the car which is clearly unsafe.

This week, a local resident and his children were cycling along Ty Draw Road and were unable to cross over the zebra crossing near the junction to our school due to cars parked on/near the crossing.  We have also had reports of parents/carers parking across driveways or using residents' driveways as a turning area.  I implore you to show consideration for local residents and to be mindful of the safety and welfare of all of our children. Please drop off or collect your child in a safe manner, if necessary waiting at some distance from the school gates rather than causing congestion outside the school.

We have spoken this morning with our Community Police Officer who has advised that the police will be attending the area and will not hesitate to issue fines if these are warranted.

We would like to thank you for your understanding in this matter and ask for your cooperation to keep our children and community safe.

Yours sincerely

Patrick Brunnock
