Important Safety Message

Posted on: February 8th 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is with regret that I need to once again share my concern regarding the traffic situation outside the school gates.

We had a visit from South Wales Police this morning, following receipt of a complaint from a concerned member of the public.

I implore you to think of the safety and wellbeing of all our pupils and to drop off/collect your child in a safe manner. By working in partnership we can all help to keep our children safe.

May I remind parents that we must adhere to parking laws and regulations.

  • Do not pick up and drop off on the double yellow lines outside the school gates.
  • Do not use the small section of road close to the school gate as an area to drop off or turn.

  • Do not stop or turn on the zebra crossing and area around it.

  • Do not park across driveways or on pavements

We have always encouraged parents to park responsibly and considerately in residential side streets and for pupils to walk in to school. If all parents follow this advice there will be less traffic movement outside the school gates making it safer for our pupils to get to school..  The safety of your children is paramount and we ask you to support us in this matter.

We have a large cycle shed where bicycles are locked up safely during the school day. Cycling to school may be an option for some pupils who live relatively close to the school.

Local police officers have advised that they will be patrolling the area outside our school on a regular basis.

I hope you will heed this plea and appreciate your continued support
