Yr11 Digital Information Evening 2020/21
I hope you are well and that your son/daughter has returned to school ready to take on all the challenges that their final year at Corpus Christi will bring. This academic year will be unlike any other; the Coronavirus pandemic has impacted on all aspects of school life and I commend your son/daughter for the fortitude and resilience shown in adapting to very different procedures and routines here at Corpus Christi.
I am writing to you because this academic year, 2020-2021, is a very important year in the life of your child. By July next year, your son/daughter will have completed all their GCSE examinations. I know you will agree that this is now not very far away.
Unfortunately, restrictions imposed on schools as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic have prevented us from holding our usual Year 11 Information Evening, calendared for 28th September, and it is with this in mind that we have uploaded important information onto our school website for you and your son/daughter. The purpose of the Digital Information communication is to update you on some key dates and important resources available to help and support your child with their revision. Core subject areas have produced informative audio/visual resources and all other subject areas have provided key information, alongside links to support pupils with effective revision strategies. I stress the importance of your son/daughter making a start with their revision as this will maximise their potential and secure the best chance of success. Furthermore, starting revision early will help to alleviate the stress that pupils experience when they recognise that they have left themselves too little time to do work needed for their examinations. Finally, the Digital Information upload is designed to address any queries you may have around what is, for all of us, a complex examination system.
Included in the upload is information from St. David’s Catholic Sixth Form College comprising a comprehensive overview of the A Level, vocational courses and GCSE courses on offer as well as an informative introductory transition video.
I am anticipating that all parents/carers of Year 11 pupils will take time to read through the information provided and discuss this with your son/daughter. If you have concerns about a particular subject you should contact the relevant teacher/Head of Department. If, however, you have concerns around a number of subjects it may be advisable to contact Mrs Maclaughland, Head of Year 11, or Mrs Kelly, Assistant Head of Year 11.
I am aware of the phenomenal level of support our parents give to both their children and to the school and I personally want to thank you for this. Effective schools always have parents who work in close partnership with them and I recognise that Corpus Christi is no exception.
