Headteacher Letter to Parents

Posted on: February 28th 2026

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to make you aware of some recent social media activity that has come to the attention of schools across Cardiff and the Local Authority. Posts circulating on platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat are encouraging incidents of inter-school violence next week. Similar trends have been seen nationally, and while much of this content appears to be sensationalised, we feel it is important to communicate openly with our community.

First and foremost, I want to reassure you that your child’s safety remains our absolute priority. As a precaution, we are working closely with the Local Education Authority, South Wales Police, and partner schools across the city to ensure appropriate measures are in place. We expect the school day to run as normal, and we are committed to maintaining a calm and supportive environment for all our pupils.

If your child feels anxious about attending school due to what they may have seen online, please reassure them that steps are being taken behind the scenes to keep everyone safe. Staff will also be available should any pupil wish to speak to someone.

We are asking for your support in the following ways:

· Please speak with your child about the risks and consequences of sharing, reposting, or encouraging harmful online content. Encouraging acts of violence - directly or indirectly - can be considered a criminal offence.

· Check your child’s phone and online activity, particularly relating to this trend, and help them understand the seriousness of becoming involved.

· Actively discourage participation in any planned activity connected to these posts. In line with our school’s behaviour policy, any pupil found to be engaging in behaviour that endangers others, whether online or in person, will face appropriate and proportionate sanctions.

We are grateful to the parents who have already contacted us and other agencies to share their concerns. By working together as a community, we can ensure that our young people remain safe, informed, and supported during this time.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and trust.

Yours sincerely,

Patrick Brunnock
