Parent UpdatePosted on: October 20th 2020
Dear Parents and Carers
In response to the First Minister’s announcement yesterday and the pending ‘Fire-break’, this letter seeks to clarify what will happen during this period and on any occasion that a class or year group are learning at home.
On Monday 2nd November, the school will be open to Year 7 and 8 pupils only, with Years 9, 10 and 11 engaging in online/hybrid learning. Pupils in school will receive normal lessons.
Pupils at home will follow their normal school timetable. Work will be assigned on TEAMs which is accessed via the Hwb tab on the school website. The work provided will be either a Webinar, with video or a narrated PowerPoint of teachers explaining and modelling concepts, followed by questions for pupils to answer or self-study sessions where pupils will work through tasks and activities the teacher has set. ClassCharts will be used to communicate the setting and submission of work to parents and carers. This will be the process in any future home learning scenarios. If you are still unable to access the ClassCharts platform, please contact your child’s Form Tutor.
In preparation for such events, safeguarding procedures have been implemented in accordance with current guidelines. All staff, pupils and parents must agree to follow specific measures to keep everyone safe in a distance learning environment. The home school agreement which can be accessed below will need to be completed by all parents. This agreement will prepare for possible developments in the way we deliver online learning and includes reference to live streamed interactions, which may take place in the future. Currently all lessons will either be pre-recorded videos and narration of resources or digital resources and work sheets. We are committed to ensuring continuity of learning for all pupils at Corpus Christi Catholic High School and we believe this model will reduce the disruption to pupils’ learning.
