Dear Parent/Carer

In preparation for the Unit 1 English Literature GCSE examination on Wednesday 9 January 2019, a number of important revision sessions have been planned.

Revision sessions, in school, will take place on Wednesday lunchtimes on the following dates :

12 December 19 December

In addition, an after-school session has been arranged for Monday 7 January from 3.30pm – 5.00pm.

As the GCSE examination takes place shortly after the return to school following the Christmas holidays, it is vitally important that pupils are fully prepared.

In the final weeks of the Autumn Term, work in English lessons will focus on preparing pupils for the Mock examination on Friday 21 December 2018. It is essential that pupils attend school in the lead up to the examination and that they are present for the Mock examination.

Pupils involved in the school choir’s Christmas Carol Service are exempt from the Mock examination and must attend all rehearsals and both concerts on Friday 21 December. Such pupils will be expected to collect all relevant materials from their English teacher and sit their Mock examination, under time conditions, during the Christmas break.

Revision materials will also be provided on Themes and Characters in the set text of ‘Mice and Men’ and pupils will need to study the text over the Christmas holidays to ensure they are fully conversant with the key themes and characters.

I am sure that you will support your child in order to ensure success in the English Literature examination.

Yours sincerely

Patrick Brunnock
